MySpace and TMZ Launch new Celeb Entertainment Hub

Alright, I admit it.  I love TMZ.com.  I’m not alone though.  According to comscore the site gets 10.5 million unique visitors a week.  This week MySpace announced that they’ll be spicing things up with a new TMZ branded entertainment hub at MySpace TV (http://www.myspacetv.com/tmztv).  The agreement between TMZ parent company Warner Bros. Television and MySpace expands upon an existing MySpace / TMZ relationship which began earlier this year, when MySpace TV began airing clips from the TMZ television program.  The new TMZ custom hub will feature celebrity news, photos, video, and additional content from TMZ.com.  The site will also have the community elements one would expect to see in a MySpace site and in-depth celeb photo galleries, which are a popular staple at TMZ.com.

Overall I think the new site design is excellent with engaging elements, such as a video rating system, which is likely to keep visitors coming back.  The only drawback is that the designer seems to be a little Flash tipsy and even the title bar is in Flash.  If you’re using IE or Safari you may not even notice, but Firefox users might see a bunch of Flash icons where the (well designed) logos should be.  Go ahead and click on the images, I promise they’re not annoying –at least they weren’t to me.  The lead video on the site (pictured below) has been online for less than 48 hours and has over 3,800 page views.
