Atomkeep Gains Momentum with Support from Additional Social Networks, Positive User Feedback

How many social networks do you belong to? Are they all updated with your current information, or does Plaxo think you live in one state, while Facebook thinks you live somewhere else? And if a potential employer were to check you out on Google, would Monster tell the same story as LinkedIn when it comes to your resume or do your social networks each have a different “version”? Do we even need to bring up photos?

Atomkeep, launched this year, is a free service that allows users to sync their profiles across various social networks, job boards, and other sites such at bookmarking and microblogs (Technorati, Twitter, etc.). The site, which is still in beta, has been picking up momentum with support from major partners including LinkedIn, Monster, and Google.

According to Atomkeep founder, Alexander Prohorenko, the reaction has been “quite good” with over 3,000 registered users in the first six weeks.

What I like about Atomkeep:

  • Early partnering with major social networking and job sites that care about security
  • Sign up was quick and easy (note, you will have to provide your password to various sites so Atomkeep can sync -this is not unusual)
  • Site has an accompanying blog and multiple places where users can provide feedback and read feedback provided by others
  • From what I can tell, the company appears to be picking up new, big-name partners each week (a good sign)

It is always hard to predict which sites are going to take off and which will fall by the wayside, but any service that can take the pain out of updating multiple social networks -or even better, do the updating for you- has great promise.

I just signed up for it, and they have some bugs to work out. Some of the fields had bizarre entries. For example, my contact URL was pointing to a site I would personally never visit. It made me a bit suspicious, so I am going to check it out a little longer. Not sure yet if this is a keeper.
