Intel Capital invests $20 Million in Telligent
Intel Capital today announced an agreement to acquire a $20 million stake in Dallas based Telligent Systems. Telligent develops social network platforms and solutions including the suite based network, Community Server. The company will use the funds to expand its sales teams and grow in international markets as well as increase marketing initiatives and product development.
Telligent CEO, Rob Howard, posted about the acquisition on his blog:
I’m thrilled to announce that Intel Capital, Intel’s global investment organization, has made a $20M investment in Telligent.
I started Telligent back in 2004 with about $5,000. Since then we’ve grown into a 140+ person profitable business. Today millions of people use Telligent’s software everyday with customers such as Microsoft, NASDAQ, NFL, Intel, MySpace.com, and Dell (to name a few).
Arvind Sodhani, president of Intel Capital and executive vice-president of Intel said,
These social media applications offered by Telligent will help push the boundaries of online collaboration and communication allowing companies to be more efficient and productive.
